I had a moment of clarity the other day. Over the past year, I've spent a lot of time ranking sites for lawyers, plastic surgeons in some of the hardest cities in the United States and fighting ripoff reports (some have been easier than others). I enjoyed the level of challenge and skill it took a deliver good results, but I worked my fingers to the bone. I make a lot of pride in my work and if you are not happy, neither am I.
The other day a friend of mine said, “Go out and rank some easier stuff such as a roofer, electricians or handyman in a smaller area and leave the bragging to someone else.” I thought what he said was excellent advice. Honestly, I can work within in any industry as long as I know a bit about it — I didn't do anything about legal or cosmetic dentistry until I got my hands dirty.
It costs at least $20,000 for a roof, right? There is plenty of money to be made if I can get you even one new client a month and that is a conservative estimate. For that reason, I'm going to start doing a lot more blue-collar stuff. I can build high-quality, search engine optimized websites within 48 hours in most cases. I can work on a per lead (per call) basis for flat-fee (whatever is better for you). Now, that's not saying I'm putting one-bit less work into the lawyers and plastic surgeons (I genuinely do love my clients), just after what I've learned getting them to the top of the highest competition search terms on the planet: The force is dominant with me now. Ranking small mom and niche businesses in less populated areas is a cakewalk now. With all of the focus the search engines are now putting on larger brands, it's the small business owner who can benefit the most.
